The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has released Advertisement No. 05/2026/Ph.D. for 20 Ph.D. Fellowships/Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) for NET-qualified Non-Ayush (Non-Medical) candidates willing to pursue Ph.D. in Ayurveda (16 fellowships under CCRAS) and Yoga and Naturopathy (4 fellowships under CCRYN). The fellowship pays Rs. 37,000 per month as JRF, upgradeable to Rs. 42,000 per month as Senior Research Fellow (SRF), plus House Rent Allowance and annual contingency of Rs. 20,000. Who Is Eligible

This fellowship is open only to Non-Ayush (Non-Medical) candidates. Candidates holding Ayush or medical degrees are not eligible under this advertisement.

Essential Qualification

Candidates must hold:

  • Post Graduation in Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, or Biostatistics; AND
  • A valid NET certificate from one of the following eligible NET examinations:
    • Joint CSIR-UGC Test for JRF and LS (NET)
    • DBT-JRF in Biotechnology
    • Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET)
    • ICAR’s AICE-SRF (PGS)
    • ICMR JRF

The NET certificate must be within its eligible validity period at the time of application.

How to Apply for CCRAS JRF 2026

Applications require two mandatory steps. Both must be completed.

Step 1 – Online Application

  1. Visit the CCRAS Ph.D. Portal at phd.ccras.org.in and register with your details.
  2. Fill in the application form, attach your research proposal, and upload all required documents for your chosen stream – Ayurveda (CCRAS) or Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN).
  3. Ensure your NET certificate is valid and your postgraduate qualification in Biomedical Sciences is correctly entered.
  4. Submit the online application before 8 December 2026.

Step 2 – Hard Copy Submission

  1. Take a printout of your online registration/application.
  2. Attach all required supporting documents.
  3. Submit the hard copy in person at the CCRAS office or the respective Council office before the application link opens, as on the date of publication in Employment News.

Important Instructions

  • This fellowship is for Non-Ayush (Non-Medical) candidates only. Candidates with Ayush or medical degrees are not eligible.
  • A valid NET certificate from one of the five eligible NET examinations is mandatory. An expired or ineligible NET certificate disqualifies the candidature.
  • The research must be carried out at a recognised university or institution of the candidate’s choice. CCRAS and CCRYN do not directly host the research – the fellow pursues Ph.D. under their chosen institution with CCRAS/CCRYN funding.
  • Both the online application and the hard copy submission are mandatory. Either step alone is insufficient.
  • The one-time Research Contingency Grant-in-Aid of up to Rs. 1 lakh is available on submission of a project proposal within 3 months of joining. It is not automatic.
  • Shortlisted candidates are called for interview by the respective Council. Only shortlisted candidates are contacted.
  • For CCRYN stream (Yoga and Naturopathy) queries, candidates should also check ccryn.gov.in.
