Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and Ex-servicemen candidates as per Government of India norms. Departmental candidates are eligible for a 5-year relaxation with a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and ad-hoc or temporary staff already working at NIT Agartala are eligible for a one-time relaxation of up to 56 years, subject to conditions.

Educational Qualification

  • Technical Assistant: First Class B.E./B.Tech/MCA in the relevant field, or First Class Diploma in Engineering, or First Class Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Science
  • Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical): First Class B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or First Class Diploma in the relevant discipline
  • Library and Information Assistant: First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Arts, or Commerce, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science
  • SAS Assistant: First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with demonstrated participation in sports or cultural activities
  • Pharmacist: 10+2 in Science with a 2-year Diploma in Pharmacy (First Class) recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India, along with 2 or more years of hospital or pharmacy experience, or a B.Pharma degree; valid registration with the Pharmacy Council required
  • Senior Technician and Technician: 10+2 in Science with a minimum of 60% marks, or 10+2 with 50% marks plus a 1-year ITI certificate, or 10th standard with 60% marks plus a 2-year ITI certificate, or a 3-year Engineering Diploma
  • Lab Attendant: 10+2 in Science from a recognised board

Selection Process

Selection to the NIT Agartala Non-Teaching posts will be made purely on the basis of a Computer Based Test (CBT), and no interview will be conducted, in line with DoPT guidelines.

Part I of the exam covers English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, and Numerical Ability. In case of a tie, weightage will be given to Part I scores, followed by the candidate’s date of birth, and any remaining ties will be resolved at the Institute’s discretion. Visually impaired candidates or those with a writing limitation will be given 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of examination.

  • No interview will be conducted; final selection will be based solely on the Computer Based Test.
  • Government or PSU employees must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification, without which verification cannot proceed.
  • No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the exam or for document verification.
  • Selected candidates will need to serve a one year probation period.
  • Candidates with pending vigilance or disciplinary cases are not eligible to apply.
  • Any form of canvassing, malpractice, impersonation, or submission of false information will lead to disqualification and possible legal action.
  • Legal disputes, if any, will fall exclusively under the jurisdiction of the Tripura High Court.
