Eligibility Criteria

Mandatory Conditions (all three required): A valid Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Arunachal Pradesh; an Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) Certificate as per the constitutionally recognised list of tribes; and proficiency in speaking an indigenous tribal language of Arunachal Pradesh, with working knowledge of local indigenous communities.

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 35 years of age as on 20th October 2026. APST candidates get an additional 5 years of relaxation; APST Defence Personnel disabled in operations get up to 8 years; APST PwBD candidates get up to 15 years; regular Government servants get relaxation per extant rules.

Educational Qualification: A Graduate Degree from a UGC-recognised university, an institution established by an Act of Parliament, or a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Candidates appearing in their final-year examinations may apply provisionally.

Additional Requirement for APPS Posts: Candidates applying for Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (APPS) posts must additionally meet physical standards and Medical Standard requirements as per applicable rules.

Selection Process

Preliminary Examination (Screening Stage): Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude Test/CSAT), each of 200 marks and 2 hours duration, with 1/3 mark negative marking per incorrect answer. Both papers are mandatory; missing either results in disqualification. Approximately the top 12 times the advertised vacancies proceed to the Main Examination. Preliminary marks are not counted toward the final merit.

Main Examination (Merit Selection): Comprises English (Compulsory, 300 marks, qualifying only with minimum 33%), Essay, General Studies Papers I-IV, and Optional Subject Papers I-II, together carrying 1,750 merit marks. General candidates need a minimum 33% aggregate (577.50 marks) with at least 20% in each subject; PwBD candidates need a minimum 20% aggregate (350 marks) with at least 10% in each subject.

Interview/Viva-Voce: Carries 275 marks, with candidates shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio based on written exam performance.

Important Instructions

Only the Matriculation/High School Leaving Certificate is accepted as valid proof of date of birth; horoscopes, affidavits, and municipal records are not valid. Scribe facility is available as-of-right for candidates with Blindness, Locomotor Disability (both arms), and Cerebral Palsy; other candidates require a Chief Medical Officer certificate. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is provided for Blindness, Locomotor Disability (both arms), and Cerebral Palsy candidates in written papers. Qualified candidates from the Preliminary stage will be separately invited to submit a Detailed Application Form (DAF), with no additional fee required at that stage.
