Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For Assistant Professor posts in general disciplines, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55 percent marks from a recognized university, along with a valid NET, SLET or SET qualification. SC, ST, differently abled candidates and pre-1991 PhD holders require a minimum of 50 percent marks. Candidates possessing a PhD Degree as per UGC 2009 or 2016 Regulations, or a PhD from a university ranked among the top 500 globally as per QS, THE or ARWU rankings, are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
For Assistant Professor (Computer Application), candidates must possess a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 60 percent marks, or 55 percent for reserved categories, along with the same NET/PhD requirements as above.
For Librarian posts, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Library Science or a related field with a minimum of 55 percent marks, along with NET, SLET, SET or a qualifying PhD, and knowledge of library computerization.
For College Director of Physical Education and Sports, candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Physical Education or Sports Science with a minimum of 55 percent marks, along with NET, SLET, SET or PhD, or alternatively a medal at Asian or Commonwealth Games level, having represented their university or college at state or national level competitions, and must pass a physical fitness test.
Candidates must possess a valid domicile certificate of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to be eligible.
Age Limit (As on 1 January 2026)
Candidates under Open Merit and in-service government employee categories must be between 18 and 40 years of age. Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories are eligible up to 43 years, and Physically Challenged candidates are eligible up to 42 years, as per applicable age relaxation rules.
Application Fee
Candidates belonging to the General Category are required to pay Rs. 1,200/-. Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories are required to pay Rs. 700/-. Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Salary
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-10, carrying a pay scale of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month.
Selection Process
Selection will be made through a single written examination of 3 hours duration, comprising 120 multiple choice questions, conducted at exam centers in Srinagar and Jammu as per candidate preference, followed by document verification of shortlisted candidates.
