The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), Patna, has released Advertisement No. 05/STET-17-02/2026-1239 dated 11 August 2026 for the Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026, inviting online applications from eligible candidates seeking appointment as Secondary Teachers in 37,337 posts in Government Secondary Schools in Bihar. STET 2026 comprises two papers – Paper I for Class 9 and 10 (Secondary Level) and Paper II for Class 11 and 12 (Higher Secondary Level). Candidates may appear in one or both papers based on their qualifications. Online applications are open from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026 at 11:59 PM on the official portal stetregistration.cbst.co.in. The written examination is scheduled from 22 September 2026 to 4 October 2026. Admit cards will be released on 15 September 2026. Qualifying marks are 50% for General, 45.5% for SC and ST and 40% for PwD candidates. STET 2026 qualification is valid for 7 years from the date of issue of the certificate.
Important Note: Three things every applicant must be clear on before paying the fee. First, STET 2026 is an eligibility test, not a recruitment to any specific post – qualifying STET does not guarantee a teacher appointment. It establishes your eligibility for appointment to Bihar secondary teacher posts. Actual appointment is subject to a separate vacancy-based selection process conducted by the relevant authority. Second, fee once paid is non-refundable – if you are not eligible or fail to appear, the amount is forfeited. Candidates must carefully verify their eligibility for Paper I or Paper II against the prescribed qualification before paying. Third, there are two separate registration steps – a basic online registration followed by an application form fill-up with document upload and fee payment. Completing only the registration without submitting the full form and fee does not count as a valid application. Verify every step from the official notification on stetregistration.cbst.co.in.
