Eligibility Criteria
For Professor posts:
Candidates must hold the specialty-specific postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB/DM/M.Ch. as applicable to the specialty concerned), with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as Associate Professor in the subject at a recognized medical institution. Additionally, at least 2 research publications (after becoming Associate Professor) in indexed/peer-reviewed journals as among the first three authors are required, along with completion of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research. Alternative routes (Specialist Medical Officers of Armed Forces, Senior Consultants with NBE-recognized teaching experience) are also specified in the notification for certain specialties.
For Assistant Professor posts:
Candidates must hold the specialty-specific postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB/DM/M.Ch. as applicable), with 1 year of Senior Residency in the concerned subject after obtaining the postgraduate degree. Alternative eligibility routes (Tutor/Demonstrator experience, Specialist Medical Officers of Armed Forces, non-teaching Consultants with 2 years’ experience at a 220+ bed Government hospital, diploma holders with specified Senior Resident or Specialist experience) are specified for certain specialties and posts.

Selection Process
Stage 1 – Screening Examination (Objective Type, OMR-based):
- Under UPPSC (Direct Recruitment through Screening Examination) Regulations, 2025
- 4 alternatives per question
- Negative marking: 1/3 of marks assigned per question deducted for a wrong answer
- Blank answers: zero marks
- Multiple answers to a single question: treated as wrong
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General/OBC/EWS/Others; 35% for SC/ST candidates
- Chief Minister Fellowship Programme Research Scholars who have completed their tenure receive additional weightage in the screening examination, graded by the maximum marks of the exam and fellowship duration
Stage 2 – Interview:
- Only candidates qualifying the Screening Examination are called for interview
- Candidates must bring original certificates and a passport-size photograph attested by the head of the department/institution or a Gazetted Officer
- Central/State Government employees must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the interview stage

How to Apply for UPPSC Medical Professor and Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026
This is a four-stage application process. All four stages are mandatory.
Stage 1 – Obtain OTR Number (at least 72 hours before applying):
If not already registered, visit otr.pariksha.nic.in and complete One Time Registration to obtain your OTR number. This must be done at least 72 hours before submitting the main application.
