SSC GD Constable Revised Result 2026 - Category Clarity - 23 Oct

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released revised detailed merit lists for the SSC GD Constable Examination 2026 on 23 October 2026, following representations from candidates seeking clarification about their categories in the PET/PST shortlist. The revision, issued under Notice No. HQ-C-3/2/2026-C-3, updates the male and female shortlisted candidate lists by showing both the original application category and the category against which each candidate was considered for shortlisting. All other terms and conditions of the original Computer-Based Examination result, declared on 12 October 2026 for 25,487 vacancies, remain unchanged. Candidates can download the revised List-I (female) and List-II (male, other than SSF) from ssc.gov.in.

Important Note

1. This is a revision for category clarification only. The revised lists do not announce a new set of candidates or change the PET/PST shortlisting. All other terms and conditions of the 12 October 2026 result remain unchanged. The PET/PST date has not been announced in this notice.

2. The revision addresses a specific issue: some reserved-category applicants (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen) who qualified the CBE under Unreserved standards appeared under the UR category in the original lists. The updated lists now show both their original application category and the category under which they were shortlisted.

3. The shortlisted candidate counts (1,97,408 total: 15,782 female, 1,81,251 male other than SSF, and 375 male SSF) are from the original 12 October 2026 result. The revised-result notice does not announce a new total.

Why Was the SSC GD Result Revised?

SSC received representations from candidates seeking clarification about the categories shown in the original PET/PST shortlists. Some candidates who had applied under SC, ST, OBC, EWS or Ex-Servicemen categories had qualified the CBE using the standards for Unreserved candidates. As a result, they appeared under the UR category in the earlier lists, causing confusion. The revised lists now display both:

  • The original application category (the category under which the candidate applied)
  • The category considered for shortlisting (the category against which they qualified in the CBE)

No other conditions of the original result have changed.
