The Indian Navy has invited applications for 210 apprenticeship seats for the training year 2027-28/29 at two establishments – 180 seats at Naval Dockyard, Naval Base, Karwar, Karnataka across 27 trades and 30 seats at Naval Aircraft Yard (Goa), Dabolim across 13 trades. The recruitment is under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Applications require a two-step process – online registration on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in followed by posting the printed candidate profile with documents. The printed profile must reach Karwar by 9 November 2026. A written examination will be held at Karwar in January 2027.

This is a training engagement under the Apprentices Act, 1961. It does not guarantee employment at Naval Dockyard Karwar, Naval Aircraft Yard Goa, or anywhere in the Indian Navy after training.

  • Ensure your name, date of birth and father’s name on your Aadhaar card exactly match your 10th certificate (8th certificate for Rigger) before registering. Mismatches are a listed ground for rejection.

Candidates whose school board awarded grades or CGPA must state the equivalent percentage as per their board’s conversion norms. Without this, the application is not considered.

Age

No upper age limit (as per MSDE order dated 20 December 2021). Minimum age is reckoned on the training commencement date of 12 April 2027:

  • Non-hazardous trades: minimum 14 years (born on or before 12 April 2013)
  • Hazardous trades: minimum 18 years (born on or before 12 April 2009)

Who Cannot Apply

  • Anyone currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, or within the three-month waiting period after terminating a contract (no waiting period applies to women).
  • Anyone who has already completed two apprenticeships; a second apprenticeship must be in a different trade.
  • Candidates with 100% disability – the notice advises such candidates not to apply as competent instructors and facilities are not available.

How to Apply for Naval Dockyard Karwar Trade Apprentice 2026

Application has two mandatory parts. Both must be completed.

Part 1 – Online Registration on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in

  1. Before registering, ensure your name, date of birth, and father’s name on Aadhaar exactly match your 10th certificate (8th for Rigger). Correct any mismatch on Aadhaar first.
  2. Visit apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, choose Candidate Login/Register, fill in your details and submit. Activate your profile from the confirmation email.
  3. Log in with your registered email; an OTP will be sent to your mobile number.
  4. Complete your profile: date of birth, parents’ names, address, educational qualifications (10th and ITI), trade preference, bank account details, and validate your Aadhaar number.
  5. Open Apprenticeship Opportunities from the top-right dropdown, search by establishment name “Naval Dockyard, Karwar”, click Apply against your eligible trade, select “Uttara Kannada” and confirm.

Part 2 – Post the Printed Candidate Profile

  1. Download and print the Candidate Profile from the apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal.
  2. Attach self-attested copies of: 10th mark sheet (8th for Rigger), ITI mark sheets (semester-wise and consolidated), category certificate (OBC/SC/ST), disability certificate (PwBD), and Aadhaar card.
  3. Complete the certificate of undertaking in the prescribed proforma from the official notice – tick either Naval Dockyard Karwar or Naval Aircraft Yard Goa and strike out the other. Sign with date and place.
  4. Send by speed post or registered post to:

  1. The printed profile must reach Karwar by 9 November 2026. Allow adequate transit time and post well before the deadline.

Important Instructions

  • This is a training engagement only. Neither establishment is obliged to offer employment after training. No employment guarantee is given.
  • Submit only one application. Double or multiple applications are rejected outright.
  • Apply only for a trade that matches your ITI certificate. Applications for mismatched trades are rejected.
  • One application covers only one establishment – either Karwar or Goa. Tick one and strike out the other in the undertaking.

  • Karwar offers limited hostel accommodation for boys only, on a first come first served basis, for outstation candidates. Goa has no hostel facility.
  • No TA/DA or accommodation is provided during the selection process.
  • Medical fitness certificate from the District Hospital in the Navy’s prescribed format (signed by a surgeon not below Assistant Surgeon) and a police verification certificate are required at the time of joining.
