Selection Process
Applications are scrutinised as per LPAI’s Recruitment Regulations (RRs). There is no written examination or interview specified for deputation selections. Where suitable officers on deputation are not available, vacancies may be filled on a short-term contract basis for a maximum period of six months at a time from retired officers holding analogous posts and below the age of 65 years. The number of vacancies may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the competent authority.

Officers selected for ICP posts (Port Executive, Port Administrator, Chief Port Administrator) are liable to be posted at any ICP across India, including:
Attari (Punjab), Agartala (Tripura), Dawki (Meghalaya), Petrapole (West Bengal), Jogbani (Bihar), Raxaul (Bihar), Moreh (Manipur), Rupaidiha (UP), Sabroom (Tripura), Sutarkandi (Assam), Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab), Srimantpur (Tripura), Mankachar (Assam), Darranga (Assam), Golakganj (Assam), Sonauli (UP – upcoming), Bhithamore (Bihar – upcoming), and any other ICP as decided by the competent authority.
