Preparation Tips for KPSC KAS 2026
1. Understand what Paper 2 is testing – it is not a standard GK paper.
Paper 2 mixes State-specific current affairs (Karnataka government programmes) with General Science/Technology and Mental Ability. These three sections demand three completely different preparation approaches. Build a Karnataka-specific current affairs habit alongside national current affairs from day one.
2. Negative marking strategy for Prelims.

3. GMA is a guaranteed scoring section if you prepare it right.
General Mental Ability questions are set at SSLC (Class X) level – not engineering or aptitude test level. Regular daily practice of 30-40 Class X level arithmetic, data interpretation and logical reasoning questions from standard Karnataka board material for 4-6 weeks is enough to score 25 out of 30 marks in this section reliably.
4. Build the Essay as a separate skill, not as an extension of GS.
