Educational Qualification
Both of the following are required:
- B.Sc. (Agriculture) under a four-year degree programme from a College or University recognised by the State Government, Central Government or ICAR.
- M.Sc. (Agriculture) with at least 2nd Class marks from a recognised College, University or ICAR institution.
Desirable Qualification
- M.Sc. (Agriculture) with First Class or above marks.
- Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment under conditions prevailing in the state.

Selection for the Agriculture Development Officer post is through a two-stage process:
