The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 Examination. Candidates who want to become teachers for Classes I to VIII in Central Government Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools accepting CTET scores can apply online through the official CTET portal. The CTET September 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted on 06 September 2026 (Sunday).

Age Limits

There is no minimum or maximum age limit prescribed by CBSE for appearing in CTET. Candidates must fulfill the required educational qualifications for the respective paper.

Courses / Posts with Eligibility Criteria

Paper-I (Primary Stage: Class I to V)

Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with required percentage and possess or be pursuing a recognized Diploma/Degree in Elementary Education as per CTET notification.

Eligible Qualifications Include:

  • Senior Secondary with D.El.Ed.
  • Senior Secondary with B.El.Ed.
  • Graduation with D.El.Ed.
  • Graduation with B.Ed. (as per NCTE guidelines)

Paper-II (Elementary Stage: Class VI to VIII)

Candidates must possess Graduation and a recognized teaching qualification such as:

  • B.Ed.
  • D.El.Ed.
  • B.El.Ed.
  • Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)
For Classes I to VIII

Candidates wishing to teach Classes I to VIII must appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

  1. CTET Written Examination
  2. Score Evaluation
  3. Issue of CTET Eligibility Certificate

Qualifying CTET does not guarantee employment. It only certifies eligibility for teaching positions where CTET qualification is required.

CTET Certificate Validity

The CTET qualifying certificate is valid for a lifetime. Candidates may improve their score by appearing again in future CTET examinations.
