Educational Qualification
Route I:
B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council recognized institute/university, OR Post-Certificate/Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institute/university; AND registration as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.
Route II:
Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized institute/board/council; registration as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council; AND 2 years of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital, acquired after obtaining the essential qualification.
Eligibility must be fulfilled on or before 13 August 2026.

Salary / Pay Scale
Selected Nursing Officers will be placed at Level 07 of the Pay Matrix (pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4,600), under Group-B classification, along with usual Central Government allowances admissible at the posting location.

Selection Process
Stage I – NORCET Preliminary (Qualifying only)
- 90 minutes, 100 MCQs (100 marks) – 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude, 80 on Nursing subjects
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark per wrong answer
- Qualifying marks: 50 percentile (UR/EWS), 45 percentile (OBC), 40 percentile (SC/ST), with 5 percentile relaxation for PwBD
Stage II – NORCET Mains (Final merit)
- 180 minutes, 160 case-scenario-based MCQs (160 marks) covering the nursing syllabus
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark per wrong answer
- Qualifying marks: 50% (UR/EWS), 45% (OBC), 40% (SC/ST), with 5% relaxation for PwBD
- Candidates qualifying Stage I (up to 5x seats per category) are called for Stage II
- Final merit is based solely on Stage II performance
Tie-Breaking Order: Fewer negative marks in Stage II → Higher Stage I score → Fewer negative marks in Stage I → Older date of birth → Alphabetical order of name.

Important Instructions
