MBBS or equivalent (Schedule I/II or Part II of Schedule III of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956) plus MD/MS or equivalent in the concerned specialty. Experience: 14 years teaching/research after MD/MS; or 12 years after M.Ch./D.M. (2 or 5 year course recognised after MBBS); or 11 years after 3-year D.M./M.Ch. in the concerned discipline.
Non-Medical Candidates (Anatomy, Pharmacology, Microbiology):
M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy/Medical Pharmacology/Medical Microbiology) plus Ph.D. in the concerned discipline. Experience: 14 years teaching/research after the Doctorate.

Medical Candidates:
Same MBBS-level base plus MD/MS. Experience: 10 years after MD/MS. For super-speciality disciplines, D.M./M.Ch. plus 8 years (2 or 5 year course) or 7 years (3-year course) after D.M./M.Ch.
