The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam, Chenikuthi, Guwahati, has released Advertisement No. E-543943/71 dated 26 August 2026 in pursuance of Government of Assam approval letter No. E-837098/34 dated 26 August 2026, for recruitment of 200 Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and allied cadre posts. The online application window opens on 3 September 2026 at 10:00 AM and closes on 23 September 2026 at 23:59 hours at animalhusbandry.assam.gov.in. There is no application fee for any category. Selection is through a 100-mark OMR-based written test of 120 minutes set at Class 12 (HSSLC Science) standard. Candidates selected must complete and pass a mandatory one-year training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science before appointment.
Important – Read Before You Apply: Four things that will disqualify you if overlooked. First, only candidates who have passed the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects are eligible – distance or part-time HSSLC candidates are not eligible, and candidates who have passed HSSLC in Arts or Commerce streams without Biology cannot apply. Second, a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes is mandatory and must be uploaded at the time of application; candidates without a valid Assam PRC are ineligible regardless of their address or domicile claims. Third, age proof will be accepted only from the HSLC Pass Certificate or HSLC Admit Card issued by a recognised Central or State Board/Council – no other document will be accepted for age calculation; if your date of birth is not clearly stated in your HSLC certificate, get it corrected before applying. Fourth, selection through the written test is not the end of the process – selected candidates must undergo and pass a one-year mandatory training at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar and its extended campuses; only candidates who pass the training will be appointed.
