The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar has released Advertisement No. ECoR/Pers/RRC/Act Apprentice/2026-27 inviting online applications for 1599 Act Apprentice posts across five units – Carriage Repair Workshop Mancheswar, RGDA Division, Khurda Road Division (ELS, Angul and IOH Depot), Sambulpur Division and Headquarters East Coast Railway Bhubaneswar – under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The minimum qualification is Matriculation (Class 10) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks plus an ITI Certificate in the relevant trade from an NCVT/SCVT affiliated institution. A standby list will be maintained. Standby candidates are called only on receipt of details about absentees, medically unfit or rejected candidates from the merit list, in strict merit order. A candidate is considered for only one combination of Unit-Department-Trade based on merit and preference order.


Post-Apprenticeship Benefit

Candidates who complete their apprenticeship and hold the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by the National Council will be given preference for up to 20% of Level-1 vacancies (Pay Scale Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900) in direct recruitment by East Coast Railway, subject to eligibility. This is a preference, not a guarantee of employment.


How to Apply for East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The application portal opens on 26 August 2026. The portal is not yet active.

  1. From 26 August 2026, visit the official RRC East Coast Railway portal.
  2. Register on the portal using your 12-digit Aadhaar number, mobile number and email ID. Note the Registration Number issued.
  3. Log in and fill the online application form with personal details, ITI trade, Class 10 marks/CGPA and preferred Unit-Department-Trade combination.
  4. Upload scanned copies of: photograph, signature, Class 10 marksheet, ITI certificate, Aadhaar, and category/disability/ESM certificates as applicable. OBC candidates must also upload the self-declaration form (Annexure D).
  5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 online (General/OBC/EWS Male). SC/ST/PwBD/Women are exempted.
  6. Submit the application and note the Registration Number for all future correspondence.
  7. Download and print a copy of the submitted application.
  8. No TA/DA will be paid for attending Document Verification.
  9. No hostel accommodation is provided during training.
  10. Only one application per trade is allowed – multiple applications for the same trade will be rejected.

  • Engineering graduates and diploma holders are explicitly not eligible.
  • All subjects in the Class 10 marksheet count for merit – not best of five. CGPA must be converted to percentage.
