The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), North Central Railway (NCR), Prayagraj has released Notification No. EN CQ-02/2026 for recruitment against the Cultural Quota (Open Advertisement) for the year 2026-27. Two posts are notified – 1 in Sitar and 1 in Tabla – at Pay Matrix Level-2 (Grade Pay Rs. 1,900, 7th CPC). These are Indian Railways permanent posts open to all communities with no community-wise reservation. Candidates with a formal qualification in Sitar or Tabla from a Government Recognised Institution, along with the prescribed educational qualification, can apply online at rrcpryj.org from 20 August 2026 to 19 September 2026 (23:59 hrs). Selection is through a Written Test (50 marks), Practical Demonstration (35 marks) and assessment of Testimonials and Prizes (15 marks).
Important – Read Before You Apply: These 2 posts carry no community-wise reservation – they are open to all communities, though SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates do get age relaxation. Your cultural qualification MUST be a degree, diploma or certificate from a Government Recognised Institution only – qualifications from unrecognised institutions are not accepted. The Written Test has 1/3 negative marking, and only candidates who qualify the Written Test are called for Practical Demonstration. Your signature in the online application must exactly match your signature at all subsequent stages – any mismatch can lead to disqualification and lifetime debarment from all RRB/RRC examinations. Important fee conditions:
- Fee is NOT refunded to candidates found ineligible, regardless of whether they appeared in the Written Test.
- Minority candidates must upload Annexure-H (self-declaration) at the time of application to claim the concession fee. At Document Verification, they must produce a notarised Minority Community Declaration affidavit on Rs. 200 non-judicial stamp paper (Annexure-V). Failure to produce this at DV results in rejection and forfeiture of fee.
- EBC (Economically Backward Class) candidates are those with family annual income below Rs. 50,000. They must upload an EBC certificate (Annexure-D).

Written Test details:

- Negative marking: 1/3rd of marks for each wrong answer is deducted
Only candidates who qualify the Written Test are called for the Practical Demonstration (Stage 2) and assessment of Testimonials and Prizes (Stage 3).
Practical Demonstration (35 marks): Performance assessment in Sitar or Tabla by an expert panel.
Testimonials and Prizes (15 marks): Based on cultural qualifications, performances on AIR/Doordarshan, prizes won at National level, and other achievements as declared in Annexure-G.
Selected candidates must pass a medical examination and, where prescribed, complete initial training before posting.
How to Apply for RRC NCR Cultural Quota Recruitment 2026
- Visit the official RRC NCR website at rrcpryj.org and click on the Cultural Quota (02/2026) link.
- Click on the Online/E-Application link, then click “New Registration.”
- Fill in basic details including Name, Father’s Name, Aadhaar Number, email address and mobile number to register.
- Receive your Registration Number and Password via the registered email/mobile. Log in using “Applicant Login.”
- Select the Stream (Sitar or Tabla) as notified. Only one application per candidate per stream. Applying for both streams requires a separate application and separate fee for each.
- Fill in all further required details including educational qualification, cultural qualification details, community, desirable qualification (Annexure-G – awards, prizes, performances), and other particulars.
- Pay the applicable examination fee online via credit/debit card, UPI or internet banking.
- Upload the following documents in the prescribed format and size:
