The Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) has released Advertisement No. NPSC/EXAM-18/2023 (NPSC-3/STENO-2026) dated 19 August 2026 for 27 posts of Stenographer (Grade-III) across 9 departments of the Government of Nagaland. The 27 vacancies comprise 3 backlog vacancies from 2021 (reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability) and 24 fresh vacancies distributed across departments including the Office of the Commissioner Nagaland, Higher and Technical Education, Labour and Employment, Economics and Statistics, Excise and Prohibition, Horticulture, Sericulture, Soil and Water Conservation, and the Nagaland Information Commission. Reservation Policy

  • 100% of all posts (both backlog and fresh vacancies) are reserved for candidates who are Indigenous Inhabitants of the State of Nagaland, belonging to any Naga Tribe, Kuki, Kachari, Garo or Mikir communities.
  • Backward Tribe (B.T.) reservations are implemented as per Nagaland Government Notification No. RCBT-5/87(pt-II) dated 14 April 2011, 15 June 2012 and 23 March 2022.
  • PwBD reservation for the 3 backlog vacancies is as per Government Notification Nos. AR-3/Gen-9/97 dated 13 August 2020, AR-8/NSSB-9/2022/57 dated 5 May 2022 and AR-3/Gen-9/97(Vol-II) dated 8 December 2025. Forms C, D and E are required for PwBD candidates applying against fresh PwBD vacancies.
  • Indigenous Inhabitant, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Tribe Certificates must be signed by a District Authority not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner.
  • Candidates who are not Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland as defined above are NOT eligible for any vacancy in this notification.

How to Apply for NPSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026

This is a two-step process. OTR must be completed before the application form can be submitted.

Step 1 – One Time Registration (OTR):

  1. Visit the official NPSC portal at npsc.nagaland.gov.in from noon on 21 August 2026.
  2. Click on OTR (One Time Registration) and complete registration – this is free of cost.
  3. Only candidates eligible to appear for the Stenographer Exam-2026 should register. OTR closes at noon on 02 September 2026.

Step 2 – Online Application:
4. After completing OTR, log in to the NPSC portal and fill the online application form for the Stenographer (Grade-III) post.
5. Government employees must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their department at this stage.
6. Pay the examination fee of Rs. 300, convenience fee of Rs. 25 and applicable gateway charges online.
7. Submit the application form before noon on 03 September 2026.
8. Application forms are not issued from the NPSC office. Applications through any mode other than the online OTR process will not be accepted.
