JAIIB REGISTRATION 2026 OPEN

The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), the premier professional body for banking and finance education in India, has opened online registration for the Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (JAIIB) November 2026 examination cycle. Registration is open from 1 August 2026 to 21 August 2026 on the official IIBF website iibf.org.in. The JAIIB examination consists of 4 papersIndian Economy and Indian Financial System (IE and IFS), Principles and Practices of Banking (PPB), Accounting and Finance for Bankers (AFB), and Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) – each carrying 100 marks, conducted online in MCQ format, 2 hours per paper, with no negative marking. The exam dates for the November 2026 cycle are 1, 22, 28 and 29 November 2026. The registration fee is Rs. 4,000 (plus GST) for the first attempt and Rs. 1,300 (plus GST) for the 2nd to 5th attempt. JAIIB is open exclusively to Ordinary Members of IIBF – candidates who are not yet members must complete the IIBF membership process before registering for the examination.

Important Note: Four points require immediate attention before you attempt to register. First, the IIBF transactional portal is currently under a major software platform upgrade and data migration, during which membership registration, examination registration, and all related transactional services are temporarily inaccessible. The Institute has stated that services will be restored upon completion – candidates must monitor iibf.org.in for the restoration announcement and register well before the 21 August 2026 deadline to avoid last-minute server issues. Second, JAIIB registration and IIBF membership are two entirely separate processes – you must obtain your IIBF Ordinary Membership number first, as it serves as your login ID on the exam registration portal; attempting to register without membership is not possible. Third, the fees stated in this post (Rs. 4,000 first attempt, Rs. 1,300 from 2nd to 5th attempt) are the base exam fees excluding GST as listed in the official IIBF course fee table – the total payable amount will be higher after GST is applied. Fourth, candidates must not register using multiple membership or registration numbers – IIBF will cancel the results of any candidate found to have done so.

Eligibility – Who Can Register for JAIIB

JAIIB is open to IIBF Ordinary Members only and is not available to non-members. The eligibility conditions as per the official IIBF course listing are:

  1. Must be a registered Ordinary Member of IIBF with a valid membership number.
  2. Must have passed 12th Standard (Class 12 / Intermediate) in any discipline from a recognised board.

Non-members cannot register for JAIIB. The equivalent course for non-members is the Diploma in Banking and Finance (DB&F), which has a separate structure and fee. If you are a bank employee who has not yet obtained IIBF membership, complete the membership process first at iibf.org.in – note however that the transactional portal is currently under upgrade.

Important note on membership auto-enrollment: Employees of IIBF institutional member banks who joined from the year 2000 onwards are generally enrolled as Ordinary Members automatically under their bank’s institutional membership. Candidates in doubt should verify their membership status by logging in to their member profile on iibf.org.in before the registration deadline.

IIBF Membership – What You Need Before Registering

JAIIB registration requires an active IIBF Ordinary Membership. The membership number is used as the login ID on the exam portal. If you do not have a membership number, you cannot complete the JAIIB registration.

Membership TypeWho It Is ForHow to Obtain
Ordinary Membership (Individual)Bank employees not auto-enrolled by their institutionApply at iibf.org.in under “Membership”
Auto-enrolled MembersEmployees of IIBF institutional member banks (typically post-2000 joiners)Verify existing membership number via iibf.org.in login

The one-time life membership fee for individual applicants is approximately Rs. 1,500 plus applicable GST (as per IIBF’s membership schedule – verify the current amount at iibf.org.in as fees may be revised). For overseas applicants, the fee is reported as US $150. Membership is a one-time process and the same membership number is used for all future IIBF exam cycles.

Why JAIIB Certification Matters for Bank Employees

  • Salary increments and promotions: JAIIB certification is a recognised qualification under the wage settlement agreements of many public-sector and private-sector banks. Clearing JAIIB often triggers a direct increment or promotion-eligibility threshold.
  • Prerequisite for CAIIB: A candidate cannot register for the CAIIB (Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers) examination without first clearing all papers of JAIIB. CAIIB is the next level and carries additional promotion benefits in most banks.
  • Professional credibility: JAIIB builds foundational knowledge across banking operations, Indian financial systems, accounting, and retail banking – knowledge that directly applies to day-to-day banking roles.
  • E-learning facility: IIBF provides an e-learning facility (available via iibfprac.sifyitest.com for mock tests) to support JAIIB preparation.

JAIIB Certificate

Candidates who clear all 4 papers of JAIIB receive a digitally signed JAIIB certificate from IIBF, sent to their registered email address. The certificate is typically issued within approximately 3 weeks of result declaration. It includes the candidate’s name, IIBF membership number, and the examination name. The certificate can also be downloaded from the candidate’s IIBF profile and verified through the Certificate Verification Service at iibf.org.in.
