IOB LOCAL BANK OFFICER RECRUITMENT 2026-27 -250 Posts

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading Public Sector Bank under the Government of India with headquarters at 763, Anna Salai, Chennai – 600002, has released Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27 dated 07 August 2026 inviting online applications for recruitment of 250 Local Bank Officers (LBO) in JMGS-I (Junior Management Grade Scale I) for four states – Tamil Nadu (100 posts, mandatory language: Tamil), Karnataka (50 posts, Kannada), Maharashtra (50 posts, Marathi), and Gujarat (50 posts, Gujarati). The online application window is open from 08 August 2026 to 24 August 2026 at the official IOB website www.iob.bank.in. The cut-off date for age and educational qualification eligibility is 01 August 2026. Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age as on 01 August 2026 and hold a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognised university. The pay scale is Rs. 48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,160-2680/7-85,920 in JMGS-I plus DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances. Selection is through an Online Examination (140 questions, 200 marks, 3 hours) – Language Proficiency Test (where applicable) – Personal Interview, with a final weightage ratio of 80:20 between the Online Examination and the Interview. Selected candidates are posted within the applied state only for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.

Important Note: Three things every LBO 2026 applicant must check before 24 August 2026. First, you can apply for ONLY ONE STATE – a candidate applying for any one state is not eligible to apply for any other state under this notification; choose your state carefully based on your local language proficiency, since candidates who have not studied the state’s specified local language in Std. X or Std. XII must appear for and qualify a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the Personal Interview; failing the LPT means no further selection. Second, you must upload four documents while applying – photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and a handwritten declaration in English (not in capital letters) on white paper in black ink; the handwritten declaration text is prescribed in the notification; the application will not be registered without all four uploads in the correct format. Third, selected candidates must execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of Rs. 2,00,000 for a minimum 3-year service period – this is a contractual commitment at the time of joining; candidates must factor in this obligation and the state-specific posting rule before applying.
