The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT), West Bengal and Sikkim Region, has released Notice No. PCCIT/WB&S/Pers./58/Sports Rec/2025-26(Pt-II)/10237 dated 27 August 2026 for recruitment of meritorious sportspersons to 82 posts – 25 Tax Assistant (TA) and 57 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) – under the provisions of DoPT OM No. DOPT-1720781414772 dated 04.03.2024. Vacancies are spread across 17 recognised Games and Sports including Cricket, Football, Athletics, Basketball, Swimming, Kabaddi, Badminton and Para Athletics. Applications are accepted offline by post to the Office of the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Kolkata on or before 30 September 2026. Candidates must additionally submit a supplementary Google Form. The physical application is the authoritative document in all cases of discrepancy.
Important – Read Before You Apply: Four things that will get your application rejected without correspondence. First, only sports achievements between 01 January 2022 and 30 June 2026 are considered – the closing date of the tournament or event must fall within this range; achievements outside this window, however significant, will not be counted in merit ranking. Second, sports certificates must be in the exact prescribed format (Forms 1 to 5) and issued by the competent authority specific to the competition level – a certificate from an incorrect authority or in a non-prescribed format will not be accepted; download Annexure-D from the notification and get the certificate signed by the right person before submitting. Third, any candidate who has been disqualified or banned by a sports federation for disciplinary reasons, or who has an ongoing doping investigation under WADA or NADA, must disclose this via the self-declaration in Annexure-B – concealment is grounds for cancellation of candidature at any stage including after appointment. Fourth, Tax Assistant applicants must qualify a Data Entry Skill Test at 8,000 key depressions per hour at the selection stage – this is in addition to the Ground/Field Proficiency Test; candidates applying for TA must have this speed.
